Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network is proud to share that Annette Span, PTA, ATRIC, is the 2020 Raker Sprit Award winner.
President & CEO Michael Spigel, PT, MHA, Executive Director Frank Hyland, MSPT, Chief Human Resources Officer Cheryl Fisher and a handful of past Raker Spirit Award recipients surprised Annette at the Health & Technology Center, where she serves as physical therapist assistant in Aquatic Physical Therapy.
Through tears and laughter, Annette, a Good Shepherd Associate for 38 years, said she was completely taken by surprise and humbled by the honor.
“It’s not something I ever thought would happen,” Annette said, noting that she looks up to so many of the past Raker Spirit Award recipients who helped surprise her. “It feels great.”
The Raker Spirit Award is given annually to Good Shepherd Associates who best exemplify and honor the spirit of Good Shepherd’s founding family in their daily activities. Recipients’ compassionate care and exceptional skill is the spirit — the Raker spirit — that makes lives of greater independence possible for Good Shepherd patients and residents.
“I have so much fun in there [the pool] with my patients,” Annette said. “It’s definitely not a job. It’s something that I love.”
Or, as one of Annette’s fellow Associates, put it in nominating her:
“Annette is someone who everyone admires and who always gives 100 percent. She uses her best skills to get her patients their maximum outcome for a better life. She has always been an advocate for Good Shepherd!”
Congratulations, Annette!
