The Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital Emily Howatt Pliskatt Pediatric Unit cares for children who experience extreme pain and discomfort. Also known as Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome (AMPS), it is a condition caused by injury, illness or psychological stress that can lead to intense pain throughout a child’s body — or just a single area of the body.
When a young loved one experiences amplified pain, it becomes a diagnosis for the whole family — and we treat it as such.
Our physician-led rehabilitation services and therapies can help address the abnormally high pain, which can be triggered by an injury, illness or psychological stress.
